Even the best plate armour is useless if the wearer can not move in it. Oftentimes you have to find a compromise between padding and freedom of movement. The late medieval "Tudor" jerkin was specifically designed to be worn underneath a steel torso armour. Lined robustly, it is not as thickly wadded as conventional gambesons. In this way, "Tudor" protects the wearer from pressure marks and the impact of an opponent's blows without limiting the mobility. The arms are not padded, but have a double layer of thick canvas fabric. This increases mobility while at the same time preventing the arm guards worn on top from chafing the skin. Additional holes allow the fastening of light armour parts, such as the armshield "Wilhelm" with strings. Ribbons with fixed tips are used to lace this jerkin. Naturally this gambeson can be worn separately, without any kind of armour on top. The additional holes allow various possibilities to personalize this gambeson to the wearer's needs and demands. Our belt shields can be painted in groups colours, insignia or heraldry to show the membership to a certain group. Made from 1,2 mm steel, we offer them in our favorite plate armour series now. Matching the "Adam" series, this shield is decorated with the series' typical ridge along the edge. It is worn on a belt by using the two loops on the top to hoist it through there. Naturally it can be worn as a tasset, when fastened on the upper thigh. This way you will have an additional plate armour piece. The belt shields, just like our arm shields, cry out to be painted, modded and to be combined with existing clothing. This is, where your creativity and immagination comes into place. Talking of creativity: We suggest to clean the shield with Acetone prior to painting it. Afterwards just sand it with a paper with 600 grid. Use some automobile colour primer as the colour-matching foundation. When the foundation is fully dried, you should sand it again and apply a second layer of colour. A replacement stirrup lock for the crossbows "Bernardo" and "Sicuro" from our range (not suitable for "Bernardo" double or pistol crossbow). It fixes the stirrup to the crossbow while simultaneously holding the bow in place.
