This classical "spangenhelm" is based on historical models and has its roots in Northern Europe during the early Middle Ages. Even before that, it was worn by nomadic peoples during Late Antiquity. Archeological finds often indicate brow ornaments or other embellishments. The helmet's conical shape formed when the individual plates were rivited together.
